Renuvion / J-Plasma The Everett Clinic in New York, Dr. Marc Everett

Renuvion, also known as J-Plasma, is a skin-tightening treatment that uses a combination of helium plasma energy and radiofrequency (RF) energy. It is a great option for patients who are looking for a solution to loose or sagging skin, but do not want to undergo an excisional procedure. In some cases, the improvement seen by utilizing Renuvion skin-tightening treatment can be an acceptable alternative for tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) or arm lift (brachioplasty). Renuvion’s minimally invasive approach can be applied on its own, or it can be used in conjunction with other procedures that do not sufficiently address skin laxity. (1)(2)

At The Everett Clinic in New York, Dr. Marc Everett is a plastic surgeon who is dedicated to providing his patients with positive and personalized experiences that yield effective results. The Everett Clinic offers Renuvion as both a standalone treatment and as an additional treatment for liposuction procedures.

About Renuvion

Over time, the skin can be impacted by various external factors such as sun exposure and gravity. These factors, along with the natural processes of aging, can cause it to lose elasticity and begin to sag, wrinkle, or dull. As we age, the skin also loses collagen and elastin, two components that keep it looking and feeling refreshed. (1) Renuvion can be used almost anywhere on the body where the skin is becoming loose, such as the neck and face. However, it is also effective for tightening the skin after a liposuction procedure. (2)

Renuvion for the Neck and Face

A common treatment area for Renuvion is the neck. The neck region can be severely impacted by the processes of aging, due to the way that loose skin can hang in an unflattering way. Renuvion allows patients to tighten the skin of the neck and achieve a more youthful appearance. Similarly, Renuvion can address facial tissue that is subject to deep wrinkling or sagging. (3) After Renuvion treatment, patients can enjoy a face and neck appearance that is more taut and more youthful, with no need for further surgical intervention.

Renuvion and Liposuction

As one of Dr. Everett’s specialties, liposuction with Renuvion is a sophisticated procedure that combines traditional liposuction techniques with this innovative skin-tightening technology. This powerful combination allows for effective fat removal while simultaneously tightening the skin, resulting in beautiful body contouring and improved aesthetic outcomes. Many individuals seek liposuction with Renuvion to eliminate stubborn fat deposits that resist diet and exercise, thus enhancing their overall appearance and boosting their confidence.

Benefits

Renuvion can have many benefits for patients, such as:

  • Minimally Invasive Procedure: Unlike surgical procedures, Renuvion requires only small incisions, allowing for faster recovery times.
  • Skin Tightening: Renuvion effectively tightens the skin, making it appear firmer and younger.
  • Collagen Stimulation: This treatment promotes natural collagen production, improving skin quality over time.
  • Versatility: Renuvion can treat various body areas, including the face, neck, and abdomen.
  • Quick Recovery: Patients often return to their usual activities within a few days, experiencing minimal downtime.

Candidates

If you have any amount of loose or sagging skin on the face or body or are planning to receive a liposuction treatment, you may be a great candidate for Renuvion. Before considering this kind of procedure, keep in mind that the ideal candidate should be in generally good health. The ideal candidate for Renuvion should be willing to maintain realistic expectations regarding what the treatment can accomplish. Because smoking can impact the procedure, we also ask that our patients quit nicotine use well in advance of their appointment.

Procedure

Renuvion / J-Plasma The Everett Clinic in New York, Dr. Marc Everett

If you are receiving Renuvion with a liposuction procedure, Dr. Everett will carry out the liposuction procedure first. (2) The liposuction procedure will look quite similar regardless of what area of the body it is addressing. Dr. Everett offers both SAFELipo and VASER liposuction at The Everett Clinic. SAFELipo uses techniques that reduce potential damage to surrounding tissues and structures when compared to traditional liposuction. VASER, on the other hand, utilizes ultrasound-assisted technology to break up fat tissue.

After liposuction is complete, Dr. Everett will apply the Renuvion device to the skin through a small, discreet incision. He will administer radiofrequency (RF) energy and helium gas into the tissue. These mechanisms will work together to tighten the skin, as the plasma will work to contract collagen fibers within the structures of the skin. Meanwhile, the heat generated by the Renuvion device will also stimulate collagen growth, which is important to give the skin a rejuvenated, healthy look. Together, these processes can reduce the appearance of loose skin. (3)

On its own, Renuvion treatment will most likely take around 30-45 minutes. However, if combined with liposuction or another procedure, patients can expect a longer treatment session. If applicable, a patient may return to the office at another time for a follow-up Renuvion treatment to enhance results.

Recovery

Patients who receive a Renuvion treatment can enjoy a simple recovery period that is shorter than that of an excisional procedure. It is normal, however, to experience some bruising and swelling for the first few days. These symptoms will most likely resolve after around a week. During your recovery, you should limit sun exposure, or utilize protective sunwear and sunscreen. If necessary, you can take certain kinds of over-the-counter pain medications, as long as they do not have blood-thinning qualities. We will provide you with a list of the types of medications that are okay to take during your recovery.

If you receive liposuction before your procedure, your recovery period may be longer; it can take months to fully recover from a liposuction procedure. During this recovery period, you should limit unnecessary exertion and prioritize resting.

Results

Renuvion can produce results that are visible immediately after the procedure; once the Renuvion process is complete, patients may enjoy the results of skin that looks and feels more taut. These results may continue to improve over time, as collagen production can be more of a gradual process. When results have fully developed, patients are left with skin that is more smooth and firm than before. Patients may want to enhance their results with a second treatment after they have healed from their initial treatment.

Renuvion results can last many years. If a patient is receiving a liposuction treatment in addition to a Renuvion treatment, they may find that their results are enhanced and their figure is effectively contoured with no need for excisional surgery.

Cost of Renuvion J-Plasma in NYC

The cost of Renuvion treatment can vary according to whether the patient is also receiving liposuction, amongst other factors. To receive a personalized cost estimate, you will need to attend a personal consultation where we can evaluate your skin elasticity and the size of the treatment area. To arrange this personal consultation, call (212) 774-7715 to reach either one of our offices in Manhattan or Queens. Alternatively, you may fill out our contact form and a staff member from The Everett Clinic will be in touch as soon as possible.
